Charles Phan
Mr. Phan was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego. While there, Mr. Phan actively participated in numerous community groups, and was awarded the Urban Studies and Planning Award for Meritorious Community Service. Thereafter, Mr. Phan pursued and graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree and a Certificate of Concentration in Health Law with Honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio.
During law school, he was the recipient of the Richard A. and Brandon S. Collier Award, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in CORE 3 (legal research, analysis, writing, and negotiations) and Law of Healthcare Organization and Finance. He also received the Case Law-Medicine Scholarship, the Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP Scholarship, and was on the Dean’s Honors List throughout his three years in law school.
Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall LLP, Mr. Phan served as a judicial extern to U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen O’Malley of the Northern District of Ohio and was employed in the corporate legal department of University Hospitals.
Mr. Phan was admitted to practice law in the California state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in December 2007.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Phan currently serves on the Steering Committee of UC San Diego’s Urban Studies and Planning Department. He also enjoys traveling, and has traveled extensively throughout the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Thailand.
