Jamie Webb-Akasaka

Ms. Webb-Akasaka was born in Newport Beach, California, and received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law.  While at Berkeley, she was a volunteer for the Student Advocate Office, and also interned for a French law firm in Paris, France.   While in law school, Ms. Webb-Akasaka was the Editor-in-Chief of the U.S.F. Maritime Law Journal, and received an internship with the Securities and Exchange Commission in San Francisco.  She also received the CALI Award for Excellence in Legal Ethics & Law Practice.

She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002, and is also admitted in all Federal District Courts in California, as well as the Ninth Circuit.  She is a member of the American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, and Orange County Bar Association.

After law school, Ms. Webb-Akasaka practiced maritime law in San Francisco, including cases involving the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, the Jones Act, and general maritime law.  She then returned to Southern California, and defended automobile manufacturers in product liability and warranty litigation.  She also defended clients in business litigation, medical malpractice, breach of contract, toxic tort litigation, and real property litigation.

Currently, Ms. Webb-Akasaka’s practice focuses on warranty defense litigation representing automobile manufacturers, product liability, breach of contract, personal injury, toxic tort litigation, and real property litigation.

In her career, she has first chaired and co-chaired six warranty trials in Alameda, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties, of which five were defense verdicts.  She has also been successful defending clients on summary judgment, eliminating liability and avoiding the cost of trial.  She authored “Tell the Best Story,” Trials and Tribulations, DRI: 2007 Trial Tactics Committee, Spring 2007, pp. 1, 6-7.

Ms. Webb-Akasaka is fluent in French.  Her personal interests include traveling, reading, cooking, art, movies, and dancing.
