Jesus J. Torres
Jesus J. Torres was born in Oxnard, California and received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the California State University Northridge and his law degree from the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. During law school Mr. Torres served as a certified legal intern with the Sacramento District Attorney’s office where he worked in Misdemeanor and DUI arraignment courts.
Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall LLP, Mr. Torres was an associate at a prominent insurance defense/litigation firm in Woodland Hills, California where he specialized in premises liability, personal injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, and complex real property litigation. While at this firm, Mr. Torres worked on numerous cases that resulted in defense verdicts and nominal money settlements. For example, Mr. Torres worked on a case where his clients received a $7 million plus verdict in a hotly contested property line dispute that had been litigated over 5 years and received a defense verdict on behalf of the clients on the cross-complaint filed against them in the same action. Mr. Torres also worked on a case where his clients received a defense verdict from a Santa Barbara jury on a $340,000 property damage claim stemming from water and sewage flowing downhill from Defendant’s property onto Plaintiff’s property and allegedly causing surficial and structural damage. Additionally, Mr. Torres has been successful in the appellate arena having a summary judgment affirmed on appeal in a premises liability action.
Currently, Mr. Torres focuses on product liability, governmental entity defense, toxic tort litigation, and general liability matters.
Mr. Torres was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002 and is also admitted in Eastern and Central Federal District Courts in California as well as the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association and Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Mr. Torres is fluent in Spanish. His personal interests include working out, playing softball and basketball. Mr. Torres is also an avid sports fan and an overall sports enthusiast. He lives in Simi Valley with his wife Jenna and their two sons, David and Joshua.
