Maria Markova
Ms. Markova received her Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science and Business Administration from Whittier College and graduated summa cum laude in 2001; she was also nominated as an Outstanding Graduate of the Year in the Finance Concentration and received the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award.
Ms. Markova received her law degree from Whittier Law School in 2004. While at Whittier Law School, Ms. Markova was a recipient of 3 American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in legal writing. She also served as a member of the Law Review, became a published author, and graduated summa cum laude. In addition, Ms. Markova was a judicial extern to Justice William F. Rylaarsdam of the California Court of Appeal.
Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall in 2010, Ms. Markova worked at a prominent civil rights defense firm as a senior attorney.
Ms. Markova practices in both state and federal court. Her practice focuses on government entity liability and employment law. Ms. Markova has successfully obtained judgments by way of law and motion on behalf of her clients and has represented numerous governmental entities. In addition, Ms. Markova has significant experience in general liability maters.
Ms. Markova has been a member of the State Bar of California since 2004, and is a member of the California Central District of the United States Court, and the Supreme Court of California.
In 2005, Ms. Markova was awarded the President’s Call to Service and Volunteer Service Awards.
