Jessica Y. Lee graduated from the University of California, Irvine with dual Bachelor of Arts in Criminology Law and Society, and Psychology and Social Behavior.  Thereafter, she earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.  During law school, Ms. Lee served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Theodor C. Albert of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.  She also volunteered at the Public Law Center in Orange County and was a recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for her pro bono work.  

Ms. Lee was admitted to the California Bar in 2012.  Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall in 2019, she worked at prominent firms in Los Angeles and Orange County, including an AMLAW 100 firm and other national firms.  She has represented major motion picture studios and some of the largest hotel chains in premises liability cases and has defended government entities in civil rights and employment matters.  Furthermore, she also litigated complex multi-jurisdiction toxic tort and product liability cases.  Throughout her career, Ms. Lee has regularly represented clients in high profile and significant exposure cases.  She is experienced in all phases of civil litigation in trial and appellate courts.  She has successfully drafted and argued numerous demurrers, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment in state and federal courts.  She also successfully briefed an opposition relating to a 42 U.S.C. §1983 action before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. 

At Hurrell Cantrall, Ms. Lee defends public entities and private clients in civil rights, general liability, and employment cases.  Her practice includes defending constitutional violation claims of excessive force, false arrest, and unlawful seizures, as well as claims of negligence and dangerous condition of public property.  Ms. Lee is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, the United States District Court for the Central, Southern and Northern Districts, as well as the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit. 

Outside of practicing law, Ms. Lee loves to travel.  As a former yoga instructor, she practices yoga daily and also enjoys reading psychology books and cooking.  In her spare time, she volunteers with various organizations in Orange County and seeks to own a horse rescue one day.
