Kja Harper-Gopaul received her Bachelor of Arts in Global and International Studies and a minor degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2011. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from the Washington and Lee School of Law in 2017, where she was a finalist in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition and served as an Andrew McThenia Research Fellow. Ms. Harper-Gopaul also worked in her school's Advanced Administrative Litigation Clinic as a student caseworker.

During law school, Ms. Harper-Gopaul was an extern at the State's Attorney's Office for Montgomery County, where she assisted district attorneys in prosecuting misdemeanors. She also interned at the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas and US Small Business Administration.

Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall, LLP, Ms. Harper-Gopaul was as an associate attorney at a workers' compensation defense firm in Los Angeles. She is admitted to practice before all California state courts and before the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Langston M. Hughes Bar Association

Outside of practicing law, Ms. Harper-Gopaul enjoys long distance running, listening to podcasts, traveling and spending time with her cat, Malia. In the future, she plans on completing a Tough Mudder and marathon.
