Dismissal and Summary Judgment for School District in Civil Rights/Intentional Tort Lawsuit

August 24, 2012

Plaintiff, a teacher filed a lawsuit against a school district and several of its administrators, alleging claims for violation of civil rights, retaliation, harassment, and false imprisonment, among other claims.  We filed a motion to dismiss all of plaintiff’s claims.  The Court granted the motion as to all of the federal claims with prejudice, and thereafter dismissed the state law claims for lack of jurisdiction.  The plaintiff re-filed the state law claims in state court, where we successfully obtained summary judgment.
