Summary Judgment in Federal Employment Discrimination Case
We obtained summary judgment on behalf of a chemical company based in Ohio in an employment lawsuit where the employee claimed his employer violated his rights under the California Family Rights Act (“CFRA”), discriminated him in violation of the Fair Employment Housing Act (FEHA) based on his disability, and failed to reasonably accommodate his disability.
Dismissal in Personal Injury Lawsuit
Plaintiff allegedly slipped and fell at a winery. The winery filed a cross-complaint against our client who hosted an event at the winery at which plaintiff fell.
Defense Verdict in Employment Discrimination Case
We obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a school district in a lawsuit brought by an employee who claimed he was discriminated and retaliated against based on his age, gender and race. Plaintiff, a Caucasian male over the age of 40, claimed he was highly qualified and experienced unlike the African-American female under the age 40 who was selected for a managerial position instead of him. In its defense, we presented evidence of how plaintiff lacked the necessary qualities of an effective manager. After an hour of deliberation, the jury returned a defense verdict.
Successful Defense of Assembly Bill 1775 in Court and on Appeal
We obtained a dismissal with prejudice of a complex matter where plaintiffs filed suit against the Attorney General of California and a local District Attorney for declaratory and injunctive relief to enjoin and prohibit the Attorney General and the district attorneys of the State of California from enforcing Assembly Bill (“A.B.”) 1775.
