Mrs. Ortega was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from Mount St. Mary's University. She then volunteered for several years at the Los Angeles Veteran Center for Combat Veterans in Gardena, California. Mrs. Ortega then went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Western State College of Law.

During law school, Mrs. Ortega served as a judicial extern to the Presiding Judge of Juvenile Court in Lamoreaux Justice Center, Joanne Motoike, where she assisted with policy advocacy efforts to reform the Juvenile Justice System, and resolving complicated issues in attempts to reduce recidivism rates. In addition, she was a certified law clerk working for Pedersen Law, APC, where she created damages analysis reports, and honed her research and writing skills.

Prior to joining Hurrell Cantrall LLP, Mrs. Ortega worked as a criminal defense attorney throughout Los Angeles County. She advocated on behalf of clients ranging from small citations to misdemeanors and felonies. She is admitted to practice before all California state courts and before the United States District Court, Central District of California.

Outside of practicing law, Mrs. Ortega loves to try new local foods, travel, and attend comedy shows.
